Sash Cord Repair Process
The process involved in a sash cord repair and replacement is:
- Removal of stop beads
- Removal of both sashes
- Removal of parting beads
- Scraping all window friction points
- Check and replace any damaged putty
- Balance windows to existing weights
- Oil all pulleys, check running smoothly and functioning
- Replacing all 4 cotton sash cords with new quality 6 or 7mm
- Install top sash
- Re-install parting beads
- Install bottom sash
- Reinstall stop beads
- Set stop beads at 2-3mm checking the windows run smoothly
